ACS International School's Centre for Inspiring Minds
“Welcome to ACS International School’s Centre for Inspiring Minds. We invite all stakeholders in the education community to become involved in our search for a better understanding of, and best practices in, teaching and learning.”
This exciting project began with Jacob Rosch's wish to explore ways to increase the use of “student-to-student dialogue,” an approach to learning for understanding that is of great interest to Jake in his role as a middle school EAL teacher. Collaborating with IT specialist Brianna Gray, and with the wonderful support of teaching colleagues, students, and the administration, this unique and invaluable guide to practice has been created. The creative use of technology to enhance reflection on practice, the emergence of innovative ideas through effective collaboration, and the development of exemplars of teaching strategies across a range of grade levels and subject areas are some of the outstanding achievements of this initiative. Perhaps of greatest importance, however, is that this book has been designed to be a teaching resource that can continue to grow in value through the additional contributions from teachers anywhere. Latifa and I wish to thank project leaders Jake Rosch and Brianna Gray, along with all who contributed to this initiative. It epitomizes the aims of CIM: to encourage innovation in education through project-based collaboration. I encourage any teachers who would like to learn more about "student - to - student dialogue", or who would like to contribute to their initiative, to seek out the support of Jake and Brianna.
